Electronic digital locks are battery powered and contain less moving parts. They are more secure as they allow a greater number of possible usable combinations and cannot be manipulated using methods that might open a mechanical digital lock.
Mechanical digital locks contain no batteries or circuitry. They are ideal for a medium level of use, where issuing and reissuing keys may not be practical. Due to the mechanical nature of the lock, combinations cannot include the same number twice.
